For those who don’t know us, we are James and Caro (or Dragon and Chicken as we adorably call each other). We were married in September 2017 and as our honeymoon we decided to quit our jobs and travel the world for an indeterminate period of time / until the money runs out.

We both took gap years after school and we (probably naively) consider ourselves to be fairly well travelled, but this is definitely the largest undertaking we have attempted.

We have always wanted to see the world and knew that we wouldn’t be able to do it properly in the few weeks a year during holidays from work. Our plans started to take shape as we sat in an Irish bar in Lisbon (awesome city!) 4 years ago. We had ducked in to shelter from the rain and ended up playing cards and plotting our adventure for many hours. When we got home from that trip we bought a huge world map, drawing pins and string and we have been planning and saving ever since.

James put a small spanner in the works last year by proposing which delayed our plans a little but made the trip all the more incredible by turning it in to an extended and awesome honeymoon.

The purpose of this blog is to keep our family and friends updated with all of our inevitable small foibles, middling mishaps and gargantuan disasters. This fulfils the dual purpose of keeping the mothers’ panic level at bay by proving that we are alive. If you are a stranger who has stumbled across us, welcome to the journey of a lifetime!
